Over the weekend the big guns showed how powerful they are at the 2011 Oceania Championships. World Cup #2 Mike Kurt came away with the victory and top honors. The weekend was stacked with good quality paddlers and its great to see such a good event held in New Zealand. Our timing system worked well and thanks to all the officals that did such an awesome job. The weekend also doubled as our NZ Team Selections. This weekend the 2011 Canoe Slalom Oceania Championships will be held at Mangahao near Palmerston North, New Zealand. Im really looking forward to racing here as its sweet and with a few international stars coming over it should be an awesome event! Yesterday saw the first day of our New Zealand Team Selections. It was a rather challenging day but the officials did their best and a good course was set for racing. Our international friends added a bit more competition with competitors from France, Canada, Poland, Cook Islands, Australia and the Czech Republic. Racing for me was interesting and a little average, but at the end of racing the results were pretty good. After a long trip home I arrived back in Rotorua and went straight out to the Kaituna River for a quick recovery session. Im still a bit tired from all the travel and coaching but should be sweet for this weekend. Here are a few pictures from Kaituna Training. This weekend we have the first 2 of 4 races as part of the NZ Team Trials. Both races this weekend will be held in Kawerau with racing starting from 12pm. Well its been a while since my last update and a lot has happened. We arrived in Brisbane on the 2nd of January and headed south for 6 hours and reached the little town of Nymbodia. Nymbodia is located about 1 hour inland from Graften and has nothing…..
