Well while I was up in Rotorua for the NZ Canoe Slalom Nationals I made the most of the local attractions and got out in the Whakarewarewa Red Wood Forest. I managed to get in a couple of rides before all the rain and a couple of runs. Its all ways a nice place to spend time!! Pictures are from Contour HD 1080p and reduced in quality. The rider is my brother, Cam and taken a while back but still all good. Share on bebo Recommend on Facebook Share via MySpace Tweet about it Subscribe to the comments on this post  [ Read More ]

After a good Saturday, it was pretty disappointing for me to finish up 2nd in the Mens K1. I paddled pretty well for most of the course with the fastest split times in every section, but after hitting the bottom and loosing a big chunk of time in one of the upstreams I put my self out of contention. Im still really happy of how my training is progressing for the World Championships later in September. Today was the NZ Pre National Championships. It was a pretty long day at the river with the teams event and our AGM at the end of the day. Despite the weather it was a pretty ok day. Racing wise I finished 2nd by 0.5s to Warrick Draper from Australia. I think a Andre Sperling who is still a junior finished 3rd! My race was average, with plenty of room to improve. The NZ Nationals also started this afternoon with the teams race. I joined Callum Gibb and Andy Fuller. We had we had a safe and solid run and  [ Read More ]

Over the past 3 days I have been over in Kawerau (45mins east of Rotorua) where I have been coaching some of the Tauranga Boys Collage Kayaking Team.  It was great to see a noticeable increase in the quality of racing compared to previous years. Kawerau also put on a great show with all the time, effort and money gone into upgrading the river bank and course paying off! The competition ran smoothly and all the kids had a great time. I was pleased with the athletes I was coaching as they had good performances. The focus now turns to  [ Read More ]

I will be at the event coaching Tauranga Boys Collage and looking forward to seeing some good racing from our up and coming junior paddlers. The Australian Junior team will also be here competing so it should be a awesome event! We also have our Canoe Slalom Open Nationals on the following Saturday and Sunday 23/24th April.
