Well it was a pretty long day today as I started my packing and also drove from the Snow in Palmerston North up to Rotorua. There were a few delays as the Desert Road was closed for a while and then re opened later in the day. It was a cool drive up though with heaps of freshly dumped snow! I have a few more pictures from the snow in Palmerston North, Taupo and Taihape that ill put up on my facebook page.     Thanks also to Skins New Zealand for hooking me up with some new Skins. After about a week of storms and heavy rain the weather cleared enough for me to get out to Mangahao for a bit of white water training.  Even 2 days after the rain stopped we still saw a heap of flooding and some SNOW or hard core frost was on the top of the hill above the slalom course!! (Even though the pictures from Stephs phone didn’t really show it that well…) Yes it was pretty cold out on the water but after 5-10mis I was nice and warm… I was also pretty lucky as the water turned off as  [ Read More ]

Napier Habour

Well I know the picture in the title doesn’t match the post title but this one does… On Friday I headed to Napier as there was no water in the river where I train in Palmerston North. It needed a big load of rain for it to start generating and I think the picture speaks for its self.  I had a good weekend at home and the weather was awesome for training and its always good to paddle where I spent so much time as a youngster training for surf lifesaving and flatwater racing…  I cant wait to get to  [ Read More ]
