August 7th, 2009

Yesterday after training we went into communism museum and the Vietnamese markets. It was a educational time, one of the Czech past and the other bartering skills from Brent! He was a pit bull when it comes to getting a deal!

I have just found out Raiseys have just got a new website. I think it is pretty cool! They are a local New Zealand Company that makes top notch Sports Supplements!!! They have heaps of features with heaps of Nutritional Information, chances to win prizes and test samples of their products.

The Amazing Race

August 6th, 2009

Over the past few days at Prague there has been heaps of people buzzing around setting up this massive rigging system over the course. First thoughts from the team were they were setting up power lines, then a big screen. As it took more shape and the removal of slalom gates at the top part of the course it was clear, a rope climb above the course for ‘The Amazing Race’. Turns out the show was filming here all day today. I had a few chats to the rigging guys and what a life they live, cruising the world to amazing places to film people! I apparently was filmed while doing my session as they were packing up the ropes etc, but wont know I guess until it comes out on TV.. One good way to get you to watch the show….

Tomorrow Im off early to do a session then we plan on hitting up the Communism Museum. Should be educational…

Ceske Budujovice

August 5th, 2009

So this is just a quick update as we have been really busy…. We had a wicked time at Wave Festival 2009. The weather was wicked for the whole weekend, racing was tight and there was good times all around. In usual Wave style they set a rather tight and challenging course for both days of racing. Saturday was pretty easy with top 40 going through. Sunday only top 10 went to finals so semis were the critical part. I had a pretty solid run nothing fancy, and was down in 8th place. It was a good final, I had a pretty good bottom section but had a shocker gate 1, 2, 3 and hit gate 2. Not a good start. But was pleased with my run to get back online and finish it. I finished 7th, Mike 6th. Video to the right of the page…

We have now gone back to Prague for a week of hard training and will go to Bratislava for Slovak Open. There is the German Open this weekend but we are not going as its a bit of a hike and training the week is probably going to be best right now.

Wave Festival 2009

July 31st, 2009

Well we were in Wave Festival for the first two days helping out as coaches for the young juniors. We had a wicked time chilling out, coaching and paddling on a new course.  Photos are from the Wave Site.

We have just shot down to Bratislava to pick up Brent and again paddle on the course here. I unfortuanlty got real sick on Wednesday and was vomiting most of the drive. Not fun. Anyway all is well now.

Prague Town, Again….

July 27th, 2009

Well today we went into town to check out some other parts, found some pretty sweet places on the hill looking over Prague Town. On our way back we saw a bit of a Police chase. Being typical kiwis we got our cameras out rather than running away. Not sure what they were getting chased for but pretty cool under Charles Bridge. Photos from Prague Town

Today was also the U23 European Champs, Congrats to Vavra and Matej for taking it out!! Also the Australians had a race off for the 3rd spot on their mens team to race at Worlds. Congrats to Sam Lyons for winning this spot.

Tomorrow morning we are off at the crack of dawn, 5am! Should be good to see another river for a couple of days then we are back here.

I have also been playing around with the Photo Gallery, let me know if it is working or not…

Prague Zoo and Gardens

July 26th, 2009

Well today we got up rather early to whip out some full length runs. Once they were out of the way we walked down the road to Africa, Indonesia, India and pretty much around the world. Prague ZOO and Botanical Gardens. Steph was rather excited checking out all the animals and plants etc.  It was a pretty wicked day with Mike even kissing a girl…lol

Yesterday we decided to go up to Galasport to check out their town, see where Jindrich lives and fix up out boats. Unfortunately we didn’t get any pictures but we has a wicked time. We learnt how to fix and re seam out boats so now they pretty much look brand new! Thanks to Vlada and Anna for allowing us to stay and for pimping mikes van with some sweet stickers doubling the price of the van for sure…

So for the next few days we will be chilling out in Prague before we head to Ceské Budujovice for Wave 2009

Prague Town

July 17th, 2009

Today we went for a bit of a cruise into Prague city. Ya it was pretty cool, went to Charles Bridge, had a pizza with Vavra  and saw the clock thing where people are supposed to come out every hour. Well we were expecting more, but it was all good… Steph reckons it was like Shrek 2.

We also had a photo shoot on the way home, Mike the mad photographer nearly got hit by a tram, but his cat like reflexes kicked into gear and he performed a dive roll out of the way. Pretty close really.  He also took some great snaps of me paddling which should be online soon.
