Prague and Slalom on Sky TV

We have settled in a bit here in Prague boat house. There has been a lot of flooding recently throughout all of Europe and so the bottom of Prague is flooded. Its all good though as we still have to top 2/3rds to train on and the water levels are slowly dropping to normal. Check out this Article. I had my first session on the white water and it was pretty sick. Steph has picked up some sort of bug, Prague belly+something random with her hand, might go see doctor today…

World Cups Over….

We have had a wicked week in Augsburg. Its always cool to come here, the town is clean, it has a wicked town square with the best ice cream, the best Mexican food and of course Augsburg home of the Doner Kebab. We stayed in the ibis hotel along with the Australian and Austrian Teams. It was pretty cool being able to hang with heaps of different people and thanks to everyone who gave us rides etc.

The race had again a rather disappointing result. However there was a lot of good things to come from it. My first run was good until the down in the eddy, loosing a bit of time there and then I lost most of my time in the second to last up getting stuck on the wall. Second runs, I pushed too had and ended up 48th.

The World Cup Ranking is pretty weird, Both Mike and I didnt make semis but are still ranked 21st and 22nd. All good for us I guess. I think more people might be keen to come to NZ or Australia for our races now. Shot to Molmenti, Peter K and Vavra for being 1,2 and 3!

Augsburg, World Cup 3

Well after chilling out after Bratislava we made the 6 hour journey to Augsburg, Germany. Its funny how the 6hrs felt like nothing. It was a bit of an adventure in mikes van. He has recently added a ‘window’ for ‘ventilation’ great for when its hot but not so fun when its raining. But it was all good and we had our first paddle here last night. I have paddled here in 2005, however some stuff is taking a while to get used to…

Steph and I are staying with the Australians, its been great watching some movies and chillaxing. Although we have no internet, which is a good thing, get to see the city…..

World Cup #2 Over

Well today was a well tight days racing!!. I had a pretty solid first run with pretty good lines, a few errors but solid to be in about 15th after first runs. Second runs I knew I had to lift the intensity of my paddling and keep the same lines. Unfortunately I had the raw speed but my lines suffered. So I ended up 28th. Video of my run 1. I was pretty happy to lay out a solid first run especially after my crap last weekend. I have been struggling to get some good grip and raw grunt on the water, but ever session Im doing over here I feel I like Im getting faster and faster. Ill be sweet by worlds for sure!!!

Mike had a really fast first run in 8th, then ended up 22nd. Mens kayak is mental!! 3 sec from 3rd to 40th. Luuka and Louise paddled well to finish 30 and 32nd. All Results are here.

Not sure what we are up to tomorrow, might be watching the finals or might be heading to Augsburg (Germany)
